Why Scouting!

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent     values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

For nearly a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through nearly a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

Our Vision

We envision a troop more solidly

entrenched in the patrol method than ever before.

We believe that more patrol engagement

under the direction of trained and experienced scouts

will provide us with more and better opportunities

for personal development, friendship, and fun.

It is our responsibility to take ownership of and invest ourselves in our patrols;

to encourage identity through proper dress, behavior, and spirit;

and to establish dignity with proper respect for ceremony.

We also commit ourselves to building a better society

by improving relations with those around us,

maintaining an atmosphere inclusive of all scouts,

and rendering service in the community.

The Troop 662 Experience!

Troop 662 is a Boy Led Troop which means the boys elect their own leadership who plan the camping and hiking adventures and implement their plans with the help of the Scoutmaster and Assistant Scoutmasters.

We camp every month, compete in skill events with other troops in Council-wide events like Camporee and Klondike and backpack year round with a long trek each summer. Our summer treks have included canoeing in Canada and backpacking in New Mexico, Yosemite, Pennsylvania, and Colorado.

For weekend trips, we have gone to Gettysburg, Washington DC, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, caving, cycling on Kelly's Island, and even white water rafting.  When the youth make the decisions about which trips are planned, the possibilities are truly endless.
